Pierwszy raz znalazłem się w tych górach w 2003 roku. Było to podczas wakacji studenckich i miesięcznej podróży autostopem po Rumunii. Od tamtej pory wielokrotnie wracałem w różne pasma Karpat Wschodnich i Południowych (tam też zdawałem praktyczny egzamin przewodnicki), jednak to właśnie Góry Rodniańskie i sąsiednie Marmarosze stały się moimi ulubionymi.
